Claims against an Estate
All estates
administered by the Public Trustee are advertised, giving notice to creditors,
beneficiaries or any other person having claims against an estate to provide
full details of their claims to Public Trustee prior to the expiration
of time named in the notice.
This notice
does not prejudice the right of any claimant to follow the estate or property
or any part thereof into the hands of any person who has received it,
but provides protection to Public Trustee to distribute the estate amongst
the persons entitled thereto, having regard only to the claims of which
she then has notice.
Estates are
advertised on a weekly basis in 'The Advertiser' and 'Government
Gazette'. The expiration date in the notice is 30 days from the placing
of the notice.
